British Empire Exhibition 1924 Hong Kong


Original vintage advertising poster for the British Empire Exhibition, April-October 1924. Colourful scene featuring a busy Asian street in front of a pagoda, most likely from Hong Kong. The exhibition was opened on St George's Day (23 April) by King George V and Queen Mary at the Empire Stadium. Artwork by the Welsh artist, Gerald Spencer Pryse (1882-1956), commissioned to produce a series of posters for the Exhibition, Scenes of Empire, No P36. Horizontal. Very good condition, restored loss on bottom margin, backed on linen.
