Exposition Coloniale 1922 Marseille Colonial Exhibition
Original vintage advertising poster for the French National Colonial Exhibition / Exposition Nationale Coloniale held in Marseille from April to November 1922. Striking design by David Dellepiane (1866-1932) depicting three ladies wearing traditional clothing from French colonies in the centre, the young Asian lady holding a small golden statue in her hand, the African lady standing behind her waving a giant red, white and blue French flag swirling around them and the third lady from the Caribbean sitting and smiling below, the city of Marseilles visible across the blue water of the Mediterranean sea with a ship passing by trees behind the ladies and the text below in stylised yellow letters with the coat of arms of the city of Marseille. Printed in France by Imp. Moullot, Marseille. Good condition, restored folds, tears and losses on right corner, right and top margins, backed on linen.
