Rare original periodical on poster design published in February 1899, issue VIII, volume II with an article dedicated to the Beggarstaffs (the pseudonym adopted for the 1893-1899 period of artistic partnership between William Nicholson, 1872-1949, and his brother-in-law, James Pryde, 1866-1941) by Charles Hiatt. The Poster, 1898-1900, was a monthly magazine dedicated to poster art in Britain, the first periodical of its kind. Four full page colour lithograph poster designs by J&W Beggastaff in the book with articles on Loie Fuller, German and American posters and others. Profusely illustrated with poster photos and designs. Cover by Pryde. Very good condition, minor loss on top and bottom of the spine, rust on bottom staple, 94 pages.
