Bal Des Arts Douanier Rousseau Paul Colin

Original vintage art exhibition poster for Bal des Arts Douanier Rousseau Hotel Salomon de Rothschild 11 Rue Berryer on 22 June 1949 featuring an illustration by the notable French graphic artist Paul Colin (1892-1986) showing Henri Rousseau with a moustache wearing a smart suit jacket and bow tie smiling with two other smiling people behind him, set against a shaded grey background with the bold text above. A self-taught post-impressionist artist Henri Rousseau (Henri Julien Felix Rousseau; 1844-1910) was also known as Le Douanier / the Customs Officer due to his job as a tax collection officer; his naive style influenced avant-garde artists.
