Original vintage Soviet circus poster advertising the first female lion tamer in the USSR Irina Bugrimova (Irina Nikolajewna Bugrimova; 1910-2001) showing the performer Bugrimova standing her ground in front of a roaring lion in a circus ring with more lions in the background, a Cyrk / circus logo on the side and stylised title text below. Initially an athlete and gymnast Irina Bugrimova joined the Moscow State Circus in 1929 to train as an animal training; she became known as a circus legend by sources including the BBC and was the first female in Russia / Soviet Union to perform acts and stunts with lions tigers and ligers.
