Original vintage poster issued by the Empire Marketing Board (EMB 1926-1933) as part of a campaign to promote trade within the British Empire - A Country Grocer's Shop - featuring a rich and detailed image by Fred Taylor (1875-1963) depicting a lady in a blue dress with a girl in a pink dress and white smock, holding a full basket with another full basket on the floor inside a grocery shop with a wide range of goods produced by countries from the Empire, including bananas from Jamaica, apples from Tasmania, fruit from New Zealand, cheese from Canada, tea from Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and India, potatoes from England and oranges from South Africa, the smartly dressed grocer measuring some goods on his scales with the blue sky visible out of the window. Printed for Her Majesty's Stationery Office by Waterlow and Sons Ltd., London, Dunstable and Watford. Horizontal. Good condition, repaired tears and restored small paper losses in margins.
