Original vintage advertising poster for the Republique Francaise Exposition Coloniale Internationale Paris 1931 / French Republic International Colonial Exhibition Paris 1931 featuring colourful artwork by Joseph de la Neziere (1873-1944) of people from the colonial French African countries wearing traditional clothing and holding fruit and other wares, the stylised Art Deco typography above and below with decorative flower and fruit designs. The 1931 Paris Colonial Exhibition was held for six months showcasing the strength and diverse cultures and resources of the French colonies, with other European and international countries participating in the exposition including the UK, USA and Japan; the event was planned by the 1906 National Committee for Colonial Expositions. Printed by Imprimerie de Vaugirard in 1928 for the exhibition and published by the Republique Francaise / French Republic. Large size. Very good condition, restored fold marks, small restored paper losses, light staining, backed on linen.
