The off-road Land Rover series I, II, and III vehicles (known as Land Rovers) were produced from 1948-1985 by the British car manufacturer Rover Company (1948-1967) and British Leyland (1968-1983); the series 3 model was produced from 1971-1985. The Land Rover vehicle was the first mass-produced civilian four-wheel drive car with doors on it, initially designed by the British engineer Maurice Wilks in 1947 and built as a post-war jeep for agricultural use. Land Rover is now owned by Jaguar Land Rover (since 2013); JLR being owned by the Indian Tata Motors company since 2008. Printed in England by the Nuffield Press Limited.
