Orfeo Claudio Monteverdi Opera

Original vintage advertising poster for the opera Orfeo written in 1607 by the notable Italian composer and priest Claudio Monteverdi (Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi; baptised 1567-1643), performed at the Opera De Lyon featuring a simple black line illustration of two people facing each other, the title in bold lettering above and below with the event information. Claudio Monteverdi was a pioneer of opera who is known for bridging the transition in music history of the Renaissance and Baroque periods during the late 16th to early 17th century; L'Orfeo is based on the ancient Greek legend of the descent of the musician and poet Orpheus to Hades to bring his dead wife Eurydice back using music. Good condition, creasing, pinholes, paper losses in corners.
