Original vintage poster - South Wales Docks For Quick Despatch - featuring a busy scene at the docks with cranes hauling crates and boxes from a ship named the Cymric Enterprise moored alongside, dock workers and a British Railways van in the foreground, a cargo steam train below the cranes with more ships and factories on the other side of the river in the distance, the text with the South Wales Docks logo below - For all information apply to Chief Docks Manager Cardiff. Opened in 1839, the port of Cardiff Docks / Dociau Caerdydd was one of the world's largest dock systems primarily for the export of Welsh coal and iron that included the East and West Bute Docks, Penarth Dock and Barry Wales Dock; the Cardiff Bay area was redeveloped in 1987 and two of the docks (the Roath Dock and Queen Alexandra Dock) are still in use for import and export worldwide with transit and storage facilities. Published by the Docks and Inland Waterways Executive. Printed by Jordison and Co, Ltd London and Middlesbrough. Horizontal. Large size.
