The Coronation King George VI Queen Elizabeth I


Original vintage poster for the celebrations in Liverpool of the coronation of King George VI and Elizabeth that took place at Westminster Abbey London on 12 May 1937. Colourful design depicting an historic tall ship in full sail in front of a modern steam ship sailing at sea with the title in yellow text above and stylised lettering on a blue banner background below - The Coronation Brilliant river spectacle May 12 Liverpool and Merseyside Pageantry Illuminations Bands and Fireworks 10-15 May 1937 - and image of soldiers in ceremonial uniform in a marching band on a yellow background in front of crowds of spectators below with the caption - The band and drums of the 2nd Battalion the King's Regiment Liverpool by kind permission of Lt Col J.L. Short OBE and Officers - and an image of fireworks shooting up on the dark night sky background from the 18th century Liverpool Town Hall building on the side. Good condition, restored folds, staining, backed on linen.
