ARP Looks To You UK Home Front

Original vintage World War Two recruitment poster for the Air Raid Precaution ARP service (set up in 1937 to protect citizens from air raids, manage the sirens and report bombing incidents) promoting the Women's Voluntary Services WVS (1938-1966; renamed the Women's Royal Voluntary Service WRVS 1966-2013; then the Royal Voluntary Service since 2013) - ARP looks good to you - featuring a black and white photograph of a lady against a blue and black background with the text above and below. This first poster produced for the WVS won a competition judged by the British Transport administrator who developed the London Underground's corporate identity and designs Frank Pick (1878-1941) and the founder and chairman of the WVS, the Marchioness of Reading Stella Isaacs (1894-1971). Fair condition, restored creases, restored tears, restored paper losses, staining, backed on linen. An image of a diagram of a plane drawn on the back of the poster is visible.
