Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster - We will not permit the destruction of peace! / Мир Нарушать Не Дадим! Illustration of a pilot with a camera around his neck, a dagger knife and pistol gun being shot down out of his plane by a red missile rocket with a USSR hammer and sickle emblem on it, the word Mir / Peace on a blue and white striped post and the slogan in red below. Possibly issued following the Cold War U-2 spy plane incident in 1960 when the Soviet Air Defence Forces shot down an American spy plane piloted by Francis Gary Powers who was captured after parachuting down with his photographs of Soviet military bases (Powers was released in 1962 as part of a prisoner exchange). Large size. Good condition, restored paper losses on image, restored tears, restored folds, backed on linen.
