Original vintage Soviet space propaganda poster celebrating Cosmonautics Day USSR / День Космонавтики СССР featuring a dynamic design depicting a smiling Yuri Gagarin (Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin; 1934-1968), the Soviet pilot and cosmonaut who was the first man in space on 12 April 1961, in a helmet and spacesuit looking at the viewer below a USSR red star and text reading CPCP 12 IV 1961 on a pink and white shaded background shooting up to zodiac constellations on the blue sky in the background. Cosmonautics Day has been celebrated annually in the Soviet Union and Russia since 1962 and internationally since 2011 as the International Day of Human Space Flight.
