Original vintage World War Two Soviet propaganda poster issued during the Finnish War: For the security of the city of Lenin (Leningrad), for motherland, for the great Stalin! Dynamic photomontage image featuring a black and white photograph of a Red Army soldier and a Red Navy sailor armed with guns ready for the assault with canons behind them and more soldiers, some holding red Soviet hammer and sickle flags, with tanks, warships and fighter aircraft in front of the buildings and monuments of Leningrad (St Petersburg). Artwork by the notable Soviet political poster designer Viktor Koretsky (1909-1998). The 1939-1940 Winter War (Russo-Finnish War) between the Soviet Union and Finland started with the Soviet invasion of Finland on 30 November 1939 and ended with the Moscow Peace Treaty on 13 March 1940. Horizontal. Very good condition, creases in margins, repaired tears and folds, minor tears on the bottom margin.
