Original vintage Soviet release movie poster for the 1940 American biographical film Edison, The Man directed by Clarence Brown and starring Spencer Tracy, Rita Johnson and Lynne Overman, about the 82 year old award winning inventor and entrepreneur Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), reflecting on his prolific 60 year career of scientific achievement (including the invention of the electric light bulb and motion picture camera and establishing the first industrial research laboratory). Stunning illustration by the notable Soviet poster artist Mikhail Dlugach (1893-1989) featuring a night view of windows lit up inside a building and a crowd of people under a covered walkway with classic cars in the driveway and a large illuminated sign over the gate reading 1879 - 1929 Golden Jubilee of Light sign and a lightbulb hanging from the stylised lettering above next to the face of Edison (played by the Oscar winning actor Spencer Tracy; 1900-1967). Fair condition, stains and stamps on margins, restored paper losses on margins, restored tear on the image, backed on linen.
