Original vintage Soviet film poster for The Great Dawn (Великое зарево / They Wanted Peace), starring Mikheil Gelovani as Joseph Stalin. Dynamic image featuring a young lady in the foreground with a soldier flying a red flag behind her and two soldiers below, one of them playing music on a violin and the other holding a gun and carrying a backpack, the stylised title text in white against the red flag. This 1938 Soviet Georgian film was directed by Mikheil Chiaureli and considered a representation of Joseph Stalin's cult of personality, one of a group of films produced for the 20th anniversary of the October Revolution, which also included Lenin in October and The Vyborg Side (since Sergei Eisenstein's 1928 film October, movies were produced on every decade anniversary of the Revolution). Large size. Very good condition, repaired central fold, minor tears on margins, backed on japanese paper.
