Original vintage sports travel advertising poster for the VIth British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Wales from 18-26 July 1958 - Ask for train times and fares - issued by British Railways. Colourful dynamic image featuring an athlete throwing a javelin in front of a map in blue against a blue and white shaded background with Wales in the centre in green, the stylised title text above against a black background and over the image with the red Welsh dragon (Y Ddraig Goch / The Red Dragon; the battle standard of Wales used on the national flag). The 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games held in Cardiff was the largest sporting event held in Wales, the smallest country to host the Games. Very good condition, restored minor folds and tears, light stains on margins, railway authorisation stamp on top right corner, backed on linen.
