Original vintage sporting event poster for The British Empire Games 5-12 February 1938 Sydney Australia – Australia's 150th Anniversary Celebrations. Colourful dynamic design featuring a black and white image of a nude athlete in position to throw a discus in front of a red white and blue Union Jack flag against the green background. Issued by the Australian National Travel Association. The 1938 British Empire Games (now known as the Commonwealth Games) was the third British Empire Games sport event, held in Sydney Australia to coincide with the 150 year anniversary of the foundation of the first British settlement in Australia. The 1938 discus throw gold medal was won by Eric Eaton Coy (Canada). Good condition, restored tears, backed on linen.
