Sailing World Championships Vaurien Ostend 1971


Original vintage sport event poster for the 1971 Vaurien Class Sailing World Championships held in Ostende Belgium from 8-13 August featuring colourful artwork of a fleet of dinghy boats sailing towards the viewer in full sail with a buoy above the event information in the foreground. Designed by Jean-Jacques Herbulot in 1951 as a small low-cost dingy sailing boat built for a crew of two people, the Vaurien was first presented at the Boat Show in Paris in 1952; the Vaurien class has been recognised as a sailing sport by World Sailing since 1962 and Vaurien World Championships have been held since 1966; the 1971 event was won by the Netherlands (Peter Tans, Harm Prop). Printed by UITG. Vyncke P.V.B.A. Very good condition, fold in upper half, creases in margins.
