Original vintage travel advertising poster for Egypt The Cradle of Civilisation U.A.R. featuring a colourful modernist design depicting traditional sailing boats / felucca in the foreground with people, the ancient pyramids and mosques, spires and other buildings in the background, the bold lettering below. The union between Egypt and Syria - the UAR / United Arab Republic - was established in 1958 but broke up in 1961 due to the coup d'etat in Syria, although Egypt continued to be known as the United Arab Republic until 1971. Good condition, restored paper losses on margin, restored tears, staining, backed on linen.
