Isle Of Man British Railways Tynwald Hill


Original vintage travel poster for the Isle of Man issued by British Railways featuring a colourful image by the British artist and illustrator Clive Uptton (1911-2006) featuring a view of a ceremonial procession led by an army officer holding up a sword with dignitaries in military and civil uniform following him, walking from a Church to chairs and a table on a tiered mound in the foreground below an Isle of Man flag bearing the three legs of Man triskelion emblem on it, the spectators watching the annual ceremony of the High Court of Tynwald on the sides with hills in the distance and a description below - Tynwald Hill takes its name from the 1,000 year old Tynwald, the oldest democratic parliament in the world. On this historic mound each year early in July, are promulgated the laws which have been enacted by the Island's Parliament during the previous twelve months. Printed by Waterlow and Sons. Good condition, restored tears, browning, staining, backed on linen.
