Kaiser Franz Joseph Haus Hotel Austria Grossglockner
£1,350.00
Original vintage winter sport ski travel poster for the Grossglockner 3798m Karnten Alpenhotel Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Haus Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse 2418m Osterreich Austria. Great artwork by Hubert Lechner (1903-1990) depicting people walking along the hillside road with cars parked below a row of flags and arches in the stone wall on the grass in the foreground, people on the hotel sun terrace enjoying the view of the Pasterze Glacier and the snow covered Grossglockner mountain in Carinthia against the blue sky above with Austrian flags flying on the corners of the building. The Kaiser Franz Josef Haus was built as a mountain refuge in 1906 on the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Hohe reached by the Grossglockner High Alpine Road (built 1932-1935), when the refuge became a hotel (rebuilt after a fire in 1997). The Grossglockner is the highest mountain in Austria. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper loss in bottom right corner, staining, backed on linen.
