Original vintage poster from the London Transport series The Proud City featuring a painting of the World War Two ruins of Temple Church and Library after bombardment below a rainbow by Walter E. Spradbery (1889-1969) with a quote by the English essayist and critic Charles Lamb (1775-1834) "So may the Winged Horse, your ancient badge and cognisance, still flourish!" next to the London Transport roundel logo with an explanatory note below: The Inner Temple is the home of an ancient legal society whose badge is a winged horse - and text running across the bottom: This is one of a series of six posters displayed in London by the London Passenger Transport Board. Good condition, tears and restored minor loss on bottom left corner, backed on linen.
