Original vintage London Transport poster for London: The Proud City - A new view of the Tower of London across Water Lane by the artist Walter E. Spradbery (1889-1969). Great image featuring a view over bright flowers growing in the ruins of buildings destroyed by bombing during World War Two in the foreground with trees and the Tower of London on the horizon and a quote from the English novelist William Harrison Ainsworth (1805-1882) next to the London Transport logo below: The proudest monument of antiquity … which this country or any possesses. This is one of a series of six posters displayed in London by the London Passenger Transport Board. Printed in England at the Baynard Press, London SW9. Very good condition, restored creases and minor tears, backed on linen.
