Original vintage London Transport travel advertising poster - A Pageant of London for London's Children arranged for cutting out - featuring colourful images covering the history of London from The First Settlement and a Druid Sacrifice through the Romans and Picts, William The Conqueror and the Canterbury Pilgrims, Queen Elizabeth I, the Gunpowder Treason And Plot and the Rebuilding Of St Paul's Cathedral to the Accession of Queen Victoria and London Going About Its Business Today. The 32 historical events and tales show people from various periods of history, horses, boats, Dick Whittington and his cat by a mile marker, a May Day celebration of dancing and a London General bus with a policeman directing people to the Underground at the end, with captions on banner scrolls separated by coats of arms and the stylised title text in centre, set within a decorative border. Design by the British painter and graphic artist Elijah Albert Cox (1876-1955). Horizontal. Large size. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, restored folds, staining, foxing, discolouration, backed on linen.
