New Orleans Illinois Central Railroad
£450.00
Original vintage Illinois Central Railroad travel advertising poster for New Orleans. Fantastic image depicting some of the characteristic elements of New Orleans - the famous Steamboat Natchez in the foreground and a plantation tree and colonial building in the background - with an elegant young lady wearing a pink dress and holding a fan on the side, the text above and below in stylised letters. The Illinois Central Railroad (aka the Main Line of Mid-America) operated train services from 1851-1998 from New Orleans and Mobile to Chicago with branches to Omaha and Sioux City; in 1998 it was acquired by the Canadian National Railway. The first Steamboat Natchez was built in 1823; the current Natchez is the ninth steamboat of the same name built in 1975 operating services on the Mississippi River. Good condition, restored tears and loss on margins, backed on linen.
