New York Worlds Fair 1939 Atherton Small


Original vintage travel advertising poster for the World Fair event held in New York at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park from 30 April 1939 to 31 October 1940. Great Art Deco design by John Atherton (1900-1952) featuring people walking towards the Trylon and Perisphere at the fair on top of a base of the world globe with a classical image of Libertas the Roman goddess of liberty in the background and the title text running diagonally in stylised blue and yellow letters. Printed in U.S.A. by Grinnell Litho. Co., Inc., N.Y.C. Very good condition, minor restored creases, backed on linen.
