Great historical theme illustration featuring the British Royal Navy captain and explorer Captain Cook (Captain James Cook; 1728-1779) dressed in his naval uniform and holding a telescope under one arm, standing in front of a round framed painting of Mount Egmont (Mount Taranaki located on New Zealand's north island) with a caption inside a scroll design reading Mt. Egmont Sighted by Captain Cook 1770. The British shipping company Shaw, Savill & Albion Line (1882-1974) operated services to Australia and New Zealand from the UK. Artwork by E Waters (c.1931). Good condition, restored pinholes, restored folds, backed on linen.
