Original vintage World War Two Soviet propaganda poster - Faithful to the duty and honour of the land, defending their own with fathers and brothers, Leningrad women go into battle together / Верные долгу и чести края защищая свои С отцами и братьями вместе идут ленинградки в бои - featuring a young lady in military uniform tending to a wounded soldier with a bandage around his head whilst holding up a pistol gun in her other hand, carrying a medical Red Cross bag around her shoulder, in front of a battle scene showing army soldiers in uniform on a hill and a dead Nazi German soldier on the ground with explosions behind them and smoke rising from the city skyline on the horizon, the bold black text below. The Siege of Leningrad (now St Petersburg) was a military blockade by Nazi Germany that lasted from 1941-1944, causing destruction to the city and a huge loss of civilian life (more than the combined casualties of America and Britain during the entire war). Excellent condition, minor staining, backed on linen.
